Sebastian Vettel given 10 place penalty at next race.

In the closing stages of the 2009 Australian Grand Prix Sebastian Vettel and Robert Kubica crashed taking them both out of the race.  On TV replays it looked like a racing incident.  Kubica went to overtake him and neither would give space to each other so they crashed.

However after the race the stewards declared that Sebastian Vettel had “Caused an incident and forced another driver off the track”  For this he has been given a 10 place penalty at the next race in Malaysia.  In Malaysia Vettel will qualify as normal but will then be dropped 10 places from the place he achieves.

After the accident Sebastian Vettel continued to drive with just three wheels.  The FIA have ruled he “The driver had serious mechanical difficulties as a result of a collision which he caused, yet he failed to leave the track as soon as it was safe to do so.” for this he has been fined $50,000 as set out in the international sporting code.
